Hi, I’m Adi. I first built Athene for myself, because I didn’t want another subscription just to read my own books, and I didn’t love how the other reading apps looked. (I’m extremely picky.)

Then I noticed people my age reading less and less, as short videos take the time books used to have. It’s not just a feeling: the share of Americans who read for fun on any given day fell from 28% in 2004 to 16% in 2023. So I made Athene free, with no paywalls, to bring books and learning to as many people as possible.
