The Notebook.
Every highlight, note and drawing from every book, in one place, with filters and search. Tap one and the book opens at its page. Write what stayed with you after a chapter or a whole book, typed or drawn.

EPUB, PDF, MOBI, Word and more, laid out as pages. No account.

Every highlight and note from every book, in one Notebook.

Any paper colour, any Google Font. Or let it read to you.

Your Kobo or Kindle in step, through a server of your own.

Every highlight, note and drawing from every book, in one place, with filters and search. Tap one and the book opens at its page. Write what stayed with you after a chapter or a whole book, typed or drawn.

Books are laid out as real pages and turned with a swipe, and from Android 13 a page can curl as it turns. The paper can be white, sepia, night or any colour you mix, and the type any Google Font. Hold a tablet sideways and two pages face each other.

Tap the headphones and a book in English, French, Italian or Spanish is read aloud in a natural voice made on your phone, even with the screen locked. PDFs too, scanned pages and all. The voice is a one-time download.

Highlight a passage in one of five colours and add a note, typed or drawn with a tray of pens and inks. On a PDF, mark up the page itself with a stylus or a finger.

Select a word to see what it means and how to say it. The dictionary is built in, and it works offline.

With KOReader on a Kobo, Kindle or PocketBook, your books, your place and your highlights, notes and bookmarks stay in step through an Athene sync server you run yourself. Any other KOReader sync server, like CrossPoint’s on an Xteink, keeps your place in step too. Settings shows you how, a step at a time.

Tap + on the Library for the Athene Bookstore’s free classics, books from your computer over Wi‑Fi, a link, an OPDS catalog or your calibre server. MOBI, AZW3, Word, Pages, FB2, TXT and HTML files become books as they arrive.
Everything Athene does is free, with no subscription and nothing for sale. No account. No ads. No analytics. No server but yours.

Athene began on the iPhone and iPad, and it is free on the App Store.
